¹² And from the time John the Baptist began preaching and baptizing until now, ardent multitudes have been crowding toward the Kingdom of Heaven,^{[a] 13} for all the laws and prophets looked forward to the Messiah.^[b] Then John appeared, ¹⁴ and if you are willing to understand what I mean, he is Elijah, the one the prophets said would come at the time the Kingdom begins.^[c]
